We had to put in some work, hiking to the top of a thick ridge covered in thorn bushes...but perseverance paid off and I was lucky enough to kill a beautiful gobbler on State Game Lands. This song brings back memories of any turkey hunts with my dad. Especially my first gobbler, 28lbs w/ an 8 1/4 inch beard, 1 inch spurs.

Great thing for me I've learned how to do the yelp without any tools I talk turkey with my turkeys everyday, love getting our temp tom going he's friendly enough he talks back at you. Those our girls are more inclined to talk they run to meet me when I come outside.

I'm pretty green. My first state sponsored class was yesterday. They gave us a box, slate and mouth call to practice with along with basic instruction. My instructor was impressed that I managed to get the reeds moving to make sound right off the bat. NWTF has a app that allows you to listen to real calls, record yer practice and learn. I've got a good handle on the cluck and yelp but, cant purr with a mouth call. Do you have any additional advice?
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but I can't even get the reeds to vibrate at all. Not even a peep

Jeff Stone got a good sound now other than I trimmed the call too short and some air passes around the call. Not enough practice 10 months ago I guess.
